Promote Your Business With Your Own Cartoon Character

Where would breakfast cereal companies be without characters such as Tony the Tiger, Snap, Crackle and Pop, and that silly rabbit that doesn't realize that a particular brand of cereal is for kids, not for rabbits? I wonder how many more cans of spinach have been sold because of Popeye. It's no secret that Mickey Mouse saved an ailing toy company who was making toy trains.

Cartoons attract attention and the repeated use of a cartoon character helps to build brand awareness for your business. I can create a unique character for you.

Determining a price for a character design depends on several factors. One of these is the size of the company needing the design and the potential income they might make from the use of that design. One would not expect a local hot dog stand to pay as much for a character design, for example, as a company such as General Mills. One equitable way to do this, I think, is to simply create the design for free and have an agreement whereby I am given first option at creating any materials which use the design, such as gag cartoons, comic strips or animations. There could be a reasonable time period for this agreement after which time the client would have free use of the character from that point on.

Another option might be for the advertiser to license the use of an existing character while the ownership of the character still belongs to the cartoonist who created it.

If you would like to have a character created for your company, or would like to license the use of an existing character, contact me and we can discuss the next steps. Email me at or phone me at 458 221-2708 (Virginia).
